Our mission
Our mission is to eliminate the adverse environmental, social and economic impacts associated with handling red iron ore and other commodities in the towns of the Saldanha Bay Municipality (SBM), thereby promoting equitable economic opportunities for all industries and job creation.
We are dedicated to advocating for a clean and sustainable Port of Saldanha, its surrounding industries and all its communities. We aim to work collaboratively with Transnet, industry and the licensing authorities to ensure that port operations are conducted responsibly, safeguarding the livelihoods, health, biodiversity and economic prospects of the people of the SBM. Through education, advocacy and community engagement, we strive for a future where the prosperity of the region coexists with environmental stewardship.
Our vision
Greater collaboration between RDAG, its members, the licensing authorities, companies in the area and the mines, so that the Port of Saldanha becomes a world-leading example of how collective effort can deliver a clean port and surrounding areas, while exports of these commodities continue.
To be part of the Red Dust Action Group, you need to adopt our mission statement and vision and adhere to our code of conduct. Failure to do so will result in immediate expulsion from the organisation, as determined by the management committee.
